I'm almost finished self installing AC (my winter project) in my Hunter 340 and need a little help. Is there any way of installing a register in the rear cabin without losing the use of the wet locker located in the head? If anyone has an idea or better yet a photo, can you help? Thanks in advance!

Air conditioning in the aft berth

When we had our 340 the air conditioning unit was under the starboard settee and the duct for the aft berth ran along the hull by the nav station, under the sink and through the storage behind the head and entered the wet locker where it went through to the aft berth. The way the duct went was along the side so we still had most of the wet locker to use for storage, etc.

Try This

Use a 4" round vent end that just fits into the duct. Then all you have in the locker is the duct.

Placement of round vent

We have the 2000 H340 with factory installed AC. As mentioned, they put a 4" round duct in the rear locker with a round discharge vent into the aft berth. It works well for both AC and heat. However, they placed the vent opening faily low, just above the matress and we find that it sometimes get blocked by blankets and other stuff. If you have the room, mount the duct as high as possible in the locker. That will work better with the AC, especially down in VA. There is still plenty of room in the wet locker.
