Hi everyone :)
We just purchased a 1984 34 Hunter and cant wait to start enjoying her. It appears her cabin cushions are most likely original. I am hoping to order all new cushions and foam. We are located in the US Virgin Islands so will be having them shipped to us. Has anyone recently recovered or replaced their cushions ? Any ideas on cost? Hoping to go through someone with patterns to make it easier.

Any good upholstery shop--and I'm sure there are some in the USVI--can make cushions. They'll use the existing foam as templates for new foam. Cockpit cushions are one thing...they're subject to UV and other outdoor damage, but the interior of a boat is no different from the interior of a beach house...they're not subjected to outdoor deterioration. So any good upholstery fabric--which you can also get locally--that can stand up to beach house wear and tear will work just fine and will cost you a lot less than fabrics from a "marine source." It's what I did to replace v-berth, dinette and settee cushions on two boats and they all held up just fine for as long as I owned the boats.
And btw, this also allows you to go with coordinating fabrics like you'd choose at home, which would give you an interior that really "pops" instead of the same boring fabric on everything.

In the process of doing it myself now. Cost about $1000.00 for materials from Sailrite plus much time sewing. Kept the old cushions. Just recovered them.

Mark, how many yards of material did you end up ordering? I bet tacking the project myself would save us several thousand dollars.
