Hunter 34 H.I.N.

Can anyone give me some insight as to this 1986 Hunter 34: HIN 35015C686 ?
When we purchased her 3 years ago our survey suggested that this was a transitional boat between the H34 and 35. Does anyone know?

So that is the actual HIN on the stern? Doesn't look like anything we normally see for an HIN. But you know that. At the very least it should begin with HUN. Maybe a call to Hunter is in order.

Two thoughts: 1. There are at least 14 others like it !!??, 2. I wonder if it is of european origin?? As everyone knows, the 34 is closer to 35 than it is to 34.. I dunno.. never heard of that one..

HUN 35015C686 Could it mean it is a 35ft #15 made on March 6th 1986 Maybe the folks at Hunter Marine would know it is one of the transitional boats. I phoned them one time and the fellow(can't remember his name) that I talked to said that he had probably worked on my boats construction as he was on the assembly floor during that time. He was now in the service department. If anyone would know long term employee like him would know. cheers

Please post a pic so we can take a look at the cabin top config and other things that may make it readily apparent that it is a different version of the H34 or another model altogether (such as a Legend model produced off-shore).

The "350" in the HIN is a toe-stumper as the H34 production run was into 1987 so any transition model should bear "87" as the last two digits, not the "86".

Did you take the number off your paperwork or actually off the number plate indention in the starboard stern location? It's not unknown for a clerk to type a hull number incorrectly in the paperwork a dealer completes.

Makes it much harder to tell the order of manufacture.

Richard, thanks for posting that link to HIN number identifications. I've copied it into a Word doc for future reference.

Marc... By the ports and hull, it looks like a late model deep draft H34 to me.

Your hull number is 15 and it was manufactured in March of 1986 and is a 1986 Model.

My Hunter 34 HIN: HUN35073J687 - is hull number 73 manufactured in October of 1986 and is a 1987 Model.

I don’t know if there is any difference between the Hunter 34s that have a HUN35 HIN number and the HUN34 HIN number. My guess is that since there is only three digits available in Hunter’s HIN numbers for hull numbers, they ran out of hull numbers for the HUN34 HIN number and therefore started new hull numbers with the HUN35 HIN number.
