Hi, My V berth has leaks coming in from the left front that soaks the bottom edge of the material on the sides left and right. It starts all the way up front in the V and moves south. I have re bedded the anchor locker drain and the hoses to the drain are tight and dry? I have run into a wall on this one. Could it be coming in along the toe rail? Or the V plate that holds the pulpit mount?

On my Hunter 30' I had the same problem! I found in the anchor locker small holes for the wiring to go throw to supply the port and starboard lights. I used butyl tape to plug them and had no problems since.

It probably is the wire for the light as indicated above. On my boat it did just that and I found a hole where the bow light wires disappeared into the deck behind the pulpit had no sealant. A shot of Boat Life and the problem was solved. When it starts leaking on the other side check the hole where the anchor locker latch goes into the deck. That took a big blob of sealant then wrap the latch bolt with Saran wrap and seat it. The goop will cure and you can still work the latch.

Has to be the wires. FYI the drain hole of the anchor locker is lower than the bottom of the wall liners in the V-berth area. And the through-hull is even lower, on the starboard side of the bow. Latch is also a good possibility.

Not to be a wet blanket...but

Certainly go for the easy and most obvious. But it may go further. I had a similar issue and did the wire, the fresh water inlet, the stanchions, and several other things.

I knew the port lights should be rebedded. Though I was still getting water forward. I was tired of trying to fix. So moved on and rebedded them. Turned out the rain was getting in around the port lights, and slowly soaking it's way forward all the way to the forward stateroom. I had posted the issue, and a kind forum person made the comment the I may have to broaden the search . Frankly I poo pooed it......BUT I was the poo.

It is amazing how far the water can work it's way through the deck.

Good luck, with diligence and trial and error you can get them. Even if they are not the immediate simple ones.

Back to the drawing board. leaks in the V berth. I took your advise re bedded the locker hinges, gooped the hole where the locker latch pin goes into the deck hole with boat life after covering the pin with celophane and being careful to insert it slowly and then did the same caulk job with the bow and stern lite wires cleaned up the old dried up caulking and took care to get it completely sealed up, I still have wet carpet on the bottom edge port and starboard not allot but enough to wet the cushion on the bottom and smell. i used boat life caulk on all jobs! Originally before I did this job i checked the hoses for the locker drain and tightened them. I did see some water in the fiberglass shelf under the anchor locker in the V berth not much enough to wet your fingers on the edge, this seems to cover the some unfinished glass work under the anchor locker, does the drain hose connect to the scupper in the bottom of the anchor locker and the drain hose connect at the top there?

AHA! The last port lite I tried to remove was impossible no utility knife or chisel could move the material they used to bed them. This was a 79 hunter 27. I don't think my Hunter 31 has ever had them removed. How did you get them out? I remember removing some screws from the inside and then trying to pry the outside surround off!!!

Re: Not to be a wet blanket...but

just thinking its on the hard and the boat is pitched aft so no water is traveling up stream to get to the v berth! How about the metal plate at the V of the bow on deck? Im not sure how to remove it unless the screws are self tapping you cannot get to the underside!
