I am thinking of moving up from my 1988 Hunter 30 to a Hunter 336. After checking them out I am concerned about the position of the main sheet and traveller being so close to the helm station. I also noticed that the traveller is very short. Do I have reason to be concerned about these items or do they operate Ok as they are? Thx g

travler location

I have a 336 with the travler located on top of the cabin roof top just forward of the companion way. I know the 336 had tavlers factory installed in both locations.I like the cabin top location better becausr it is out of the way and not "in your face".The pedistal mount operates O.K. and may even be a more ideal location as it is at the aft of the boom (a sailing purest will tell you that it belongs there) However for my use I don't want the cluter. Let me make this suggestion that if this is the only thing stopping you from buying this boat consider moving the travler (you may even be able to use this as a barganing tool in the price game)Cost should be around five hundred dollar unless you get radical but check in out.Let me further say that the 336 is a great boat and we love ours! Good Luck! Pete

Pedestal Mount Traveler

Yup, got one on our 336. It might not be the best spot for a traveler but it functions well. Really doesn't add much clutter because the line is so short (B

Cabin Top Modification Easy

Friend of mine modified his 336 putting the traveler on the cabin roof about 3 years ago. If interested in his experience, email me and I will put you in touch with him. Incidentally, he loves it that way. Jim
