The Traveler on the 1996 Hunter 336 is positioned on top of the steering wheel post.
We would like to install a Bimini and are looking to relocate the traveler to the top of the door opening to the below deck area.
Would this cause any structural problems with the mast or anywhere else?
We would still keep the lines directly downward of the boom, but they would be considerably closer to the mast than the current arrangement.
Thanks - Hankoni

You might study the pics in this listing....I'm sure this is what you had in mind. Note that the traveler appears bolted directly to the cabin top so you won't need risers and the "high rise" style track... nonetheless, this boat has an added winch on starboard to handle the increase load from loss of leverage when moving from end boom to mid boom. A pretty good upgrade... also note the mainsheet blocks spreading the load over the boom.

Why move it? We owned a 336 for 14 years. Best bang for the buck in the water IMHO. We had a dodger and a bimini AND a cover to fill the gap. Without getting technical because it is not a racing boat, a rigid vang and a mainsheet are plenty of sail shaping devices. Spend the money on something else again IMHO. Here is a pic or two. If you have any questions about the 336, pm me. Got pretty familiar with her.
