Overheating
I read this entire file and while my experience has nothing to do with Hunter or Yanmar your experience has some parallels to mine.A few years ago I had a GMC Jimmy that started to show some strange engine temperaature fluctuations on the gage. The dealer replaced the thermostat and engine temp. sensor which worked for a week or two followed by the same pattern of symptoms. Head scratching and "out of warranty" statements were made which got me really ------. Finally, they called the regional office after which I was told that GM had received some bad antifreeze from their OEM manufacturer. Time and pulling heavy loads, I was doing a lot of towing my glider around at the time, had resulted in the precipitation of solids from the antifreeze in the form of gunk which clogged up every part of the cooling system. They had the SUV for three days during which time they ran a caustic solution through the system, followed by a filtered fresh water rinse cycle. I was told that it took nine cycles to get all of the gunk out. After that, I never had another cooling problem. I can imagine that the widely distributed pattern of a few hundred engines a year spread over a dozen or so builders would make such a problem much harder to identify than in the automotive industry.Hang in there!
