5200 is just plain wrong. Throw it in the bin with your silicone. Nothing on a boat is forever with the exception, hopefully , of the hull/deck joint, which is in fact a proper place for 5200. Do yourself a big favor and assemble with proper marine sealants that do the job yet allow disassembly when required.

By the way, 5200 disintegrates in direct sun light. Maybe that's why manufacturers tend to use it only in areas out of the sun.
