I recently bought a 2001, Hunter 320 and have a couple of questions: 1) There is a lever on the underside of the boom near the gooseneck. What is it for ? 2) I would like to install a wind speed-direction unit and wondered if Hunter might of put some spare wires in the mast that could be used ? I have sucessfully installed a C70 Chartplotter, 4000 MKii Autopilot and an 18" Radaron a seperate mast. Thanks for any info, Marty

Outhaul

That sound like the outhaul and it should have a rope in it; or perhaps you have IMRF main and its not used?

jam cleat

The lever is really a jam cleat for either the outhaul or the reefing gear. There should be a line coming out of the boom and the lever jams it, effectively cleating it off.

Outhaul

On my 2001 H320 it is the outhaul! Question for you: On that same "axle" that has that jam cleat, there are two sheeves on the port side for the two reefing lines. But on mine there is a gap, like there should be one more sheeve in there. One reefing line always falls off and rides on the axle, not its sheeve unless I am careful.. what do you have? Wiring

Oh, forgot, I don't know if there is wiring in the mast but (and maybe you found it too) there was autopilot and instrument power lines run all the way to the helm on my boat.. really helped when I installed the ST4000+ autopilot and my Garmin GPS. To get the NMEA to the radio (companionway location) I had to "steal" the rear speaker wires.. Gary Alameda
