My 1998 Hunter 310 was leaking through the front large fixed port. The one I call the windshield. I removed it (with difficulty -- the fishing line trick did not work because this port is on too big a ledge).

I am preparing to reinstall it. In the center, where it rests against a 6 inch center "post", there was some black plastic instead of silicone. I am assuming this is cosmetic. Does anyone know what to use in this space in the middle of the port?

Thanks,

Dave

I'm preparing to go through this same exercise sometime in the not too distant future .......... actually when every other possible thing on the boat has been done.

The black coating you refer to is just cosmetic. I would just leave it uncoated but apply a small amount of 795 along the edge of the "post" to ensure it holds the acrylic neatly in place once the assembly is in place.

The windshield on my 310 has just started leaking so I will need to reinstall it in the near future. Any tips, suggestions or pointers would be gratefully received!

Thanks
Tim
