Don't worry Jim! I had the same problem about one year and a half ago. Here in Venezuela,It's very difficult to find a professional ship yard to make that kind of repairments, so what I did was I unstepped the mast using the halyards from the sailboats besides mine. (so, I didn't have to pay for that) Then, I removed the compressor post and I bought a $50 solid saman post(a very strong wood post about 4 inches width x 7 inches length) I removed the damaged fiber glass under the deck, put some epoxy recine between the post and the ceiling of the cabin. I covered the hole for the wires with 5200 silicon and stepped the mast again following the same procedure with the halyards. I made a small hole in the mast base to pass the wires for the masthead light, the coax cable, etc, I made another two holes on the deck about 9 inches in front of the mast and with a couple of waterproof through-Deck fittings that I bought at West Marine, I brought all the wires to the bathroom ceiling where I can regularly check if I have some water leak. I didn't spend more than $250 and I forgot to mention that a carpenter made a good make up for the top of the new compressor post. I have some pictures I can send to you if you want.
