My boat lives on a sheltered mooring, the chain of which is led on to a bow cleat (which I consider light for the size of boat) through the bow fitting. Last season the bow fitting bent slightly, and today I found it had snapped off flush with the deck. Should I have been mooring differently? And how can I get a replacement, preferably with double bow roller?

What broke?

What is the bow fitting? I had my 30t on a mooring all last year, and I never got around to purchasing an "official" mooring line because I expected to get a dock slip sooner than I did. I took two dock lines from the swivel under the buoy up to the two bow cleats on each side. I kept one significantly shorter to try to reduce the whipping back and forth on the hook and to limit the wear to one line at a time. It might not be right, but it worked and I am still using the lines now that I am in the dock. I still had to untangle them once in a while even though they were attached to the swivel. Todd.
