This question will drive mathmatitions and engineers nuts. Probably English teachers too. My yacht club has a cut off of 30 feet for the size slip currently available. The club doesn't measure the boats, they go by what the manufacturer intended. The Hunter 310 is listed as a 30.86 with 310 (30 feet 10 inches) painted on the side. Needless to say half the board of directors sees a 30 and the other half sees a 31, never mind that inch for inch the 310 is shorter than some of the bow sprit OBs already in 30 foot slips. The board of directors are split on letting me into a 30 foot slip. Is there a consensus of any kind that might lean in my favor?
