Cherubini charter
Charlie, I have been a charter captain for many years and had my '77 30h in service with a local charter company for 3-4 years. I've since taken it out. My observations over the years has been that most charterers care very little about how a boat sails, they like newer models with "curb appeal" and LOTS of room below. With Fraulein II sitting next to a newer Hunter it could be a tough sell. My boat attracted those true sailors who weren't interested in glitz but wanted a boat that would perform like a sailboat. Unfortunately, those charterers were few and far between. One big advantage of having a boat in charter, however, is the tax write-off. Talk to your tax professional about this. Another option, instead of bareboat charter, is to use the boat for instruction through a local sailing school or if you are a licensed captain, run the boat yourself on day trips or give sailing lessons. (check with your insurance agent first). Good luck and if you need any further info write back to this forum.Rolands/v fraulein II
