QUESTION: What alcohol stove came as standard equipment in the Hunter 30 74-83? I just bought a 1980 Hunter 30 minus the stove. The Hunter tech says the Origo 6000, however, the 6000 comes with an oven. I do not have a place for an oven, just a hole in the countertop for a drop in stove. I'm aware of the shortcomings of an alcohol stove, but I have a desire to restore this boat to "stock." Any help, please?

Tony: No one cares about STOCK when it comes to these stoves. Do yourself a favor an look at an Origo alcohol or maybe better yet, think about a propane setup.

Safety!!!
Be very cautious of wanting to replace the original alcohol stove. These have proven to be very dangerous with bad flare up. Instead look at some of the new Origo non pressurized as you have said. I would highly caution against pressurized, just from personal experience. My wife vowed she would not touch the original stove in our hunter until it was replaced with new. Dave&Jenn

Origo stove.
Tony ORIGO is the way to go.Way safer than original Kenyon ,alcahol fire is not visible untill surounding area is on fire and any spilled alcahol will spread through holes in bottom of stove and ignite in the area bellow the stove.Origo stove can be filled safely in the sink.As for Propane it is heavier than air if you have aleak it will settle in the bilge waiting to go KABOMMM.Think about it.

Make the upgrade
I had a H-30 1981 with the Kenyon pressureized alcohol combination electric stove. I now have an Origo with a oven in my H-31. Love the Origo, safe simple, efficient, and it cooks better. The oven is a little slow to heat up.
