Hello
I recently purchased a Hunter 1981 30ft long, everything clean and nice , I checked near the keel and I saw that the core beneath the compression post is rotten, I think need to be replaced. I am looking for instruction how to replace it and if possible a blue print with the dimensions so I can fabricate that from stainless steel. Any help is highly appreciated
Thank you

not sure what you mean, can you post a pic of the damaged area in question? Also, post this in the Cherubini Hunter section. This is a common repair for the Cherubini H30s.

Thank you for your reply I will post some pic this weekend , inside the cabin under the floor near the keel I noticed a lot of corrosion to the structure that support the compression post, there is fiberglass that cover part of the structure other part are exposed and you can see the corrosion, both end of that structure is attached to the rigging. I did some research and it appears that many Hunter owners have the same problem. I would like to know if the structure can be replaced. If so any instructions will be much appreciated, also can the work be done while the boat still in the water
Thank you for your time

I don't see why the work can't be done with the boat in the water. These comprssion posts were made of wood and subject to rot and termites. You are smart to replace with metal. On the 31, the compression post runs through the wall post between the head and the forward settee. Cover can be removed by drilling out he plugs that cover the screws. Someone posted pictures and instructions over a year ago, but I forget who that was. Looked like a nasty job. Not sure if you have to dismast to do the job properly.
