I'm reviving my hunter 30 sailboat after a 15 year dry-dock. (having kids really changes the priorities). Almost got the diesel running this weekend but I have a rotted lube oil pipe going across the top of the block/crankcase. Ordered a new one from Torrensen/marine diesels direct but I don't have positive confirmation on the engine model. The operators manual is for both Yanmar YSE8 & YSE12. I'm pretty sure it's the 12 and I ordered the pipe to fit the 12, can anyone confirm? Also, I broke the brass shaft of the cockpit throttle lever. I think it would probably be difficult to find this specific part so I'm thinking of buying an entire throttle and gearshift lever assembly. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Should I go for the whole assembly? Where might I track down the throttle lever shaft if not? Where might I find/ order/ buy a new throttle and gear shift assy? I figure I'll probably have to go for new cables as well and maybe the linkage parts that hitch the cable to the Yanmars fuel pump/injector.

Throttle

I have a 1977 Hunter 30. I have replaced the engine, and installed a single lever throttle/shift lever. The old unit may be the same as yours. Please email me with a discription of your broken unit. mailto:peter@albrights.org If you need new cables, try www.surplusunlimited.com. They have the best prices I havr found.

might help

Jim, We are new to athe hunter 30, which we bought from a not for profit foundation, URI-just figuring things out, plus haven't owned a boat with all these features-but, The two levers, throttle and transmission were missing on our boat when we got it. The boatyard - Cove HAven Marine in Barrington, created two substitues that work just fine. We tried to buy replacements, but with no luck. We are having problems with the sheets slipping on the winches, any ideas?
