Hunter 30' 1969 Main Mast ?

A friend asked me to check on a problem he has. He just bought a Hunter 30' 1969 (but it doesn't show up on the list). I'm not sure if he has his data correct. Anyway, the mast is lossy gossey. He says that he thinks that he needs a "shim" of some sort where the mast meets the boat. Anyone have any comments? Thanks, John n Ann On the Florida Intracoastal

British Hunter?

Our Hunter was not in business back then, but the entirely separate British sailboat builder of the same name may have been. If he is talking about a "shim", he may be referring to a keel stepped mast, also inconsistant with the Hunter of the United States, but possibly consistent with the British company.

1975 American Hunter 30's had keel masts

My 1975 Hunter 30 has a keel stepped mast. The Masts were changed in 1976 or 77 to Cabin stepped.
