Hunter 290 Sailers

I am in the process to buy a Hunter 290.It is my understanding that the mast stays have been altered from the 29.5 model.I am interested to find out if it has changed the downwind performance.I am a retired Racer and enjoy heavy air sailing.Is the new Hunter 290 the right joice? I love the interior layout and the smart use of space for this size boat.

As I understand..

290 is replacing the 280 now discontinued , altough the hull slightly change ,and much more the interior , and ports/windows configuration.The discontinued 29.5 (for 3 years) was replaced by 310 , change maily on the interior , which I presume will be replaced by the new 320.I am not shure any other production manufacturer keep replacing their models as fast as Hunter ..For shure they don't get outdated so fast ( hopefully..) so it must be something else..

Owner's directory has one listed in KS, who can be contacted by email.Also a PAT Finnigan took delivery of one in January, but found no contact.Didn't find the owner who had a 310 in Sodus. Not sure that has the same rig.
