Hunter 290 Mast Post Leak

I recently bought a 2000 Hunter 290. The cabin mast post has a small leak, about the only leak in the boat. Water drips down the post in rain or washdown. The boat has a wiring/cable plate up on deck forward of the mast (and the post). I've checked it, covered it with tape, don't see how water could get in there at this point. Cables bend up before they go into the tube anyway.

Anyone else have this problem, know the source of the leak?

There have been many threads on this subject like the ones below. I had a similar mast leak on my 2004 Hunter 386 when I purchased and mitigated it by sealing the deck rain plate.

My 1997 H376 leaks into the salon from the mast/mast step. I haven’t found a boot that can solve the significant leak problem. Any recommendations captains? Thank you.
