Hunter 29.5 broken sail slug

My "new to me" Hunter 29.5 has one broken main sail slug. On my previous boat (Catalina 25) changing a broken sail slug was a piece of cake.
How involved is it on the Hunter? Where is the mast gate? I assume its under the boom attachment point.

The gate has to be above the gooseneck because that's where the sail slugs exit, enter. The only difference from your Cat 25 would be how the slugs are attached. IMO.
BTW, I wish someone would come out with a metal slug. The sun here is brutal on those plastic ones. And, it is a pain to change out especially if a higher up one breaks.

On my 29.5, there is a metal plate that has to be removed with a screw driver to allow the slugs to exit, it's hard to see with the sail down

I think you answered your own question. Raise the sail a bit, remove the plate and while letting the sail down, slide the slugs out 'til you get to the broken one. Replace and reverse the operation.
