Hunter 28 holding tank replacement

I just found out that the holding tank on our 1991 Hunter 28 is corroding and leaking into the bilge. This tank is strapped dowin on a raised area under the transom stem, and there appears no way to get to it except through the two lazzarette tops from above. How is this tank replaced on this model? Cut it into pieces? Can it be accessed from below? Any help would be appreciated.Gary ScheierSV "Serenisea"

Gary, we had a 1989 H28 and it looked to me...

like the only way to remove the tank was through the stern bulkhead in the aft cabin. I had no need to remove the bulkhead on ours, but that looked like the only way to replace it. As I recall it was held in place with screws. Let us know what you find.Terry

I seem to recall an archive post......

a few years back where they ran into the same issue.I think that they did as Terry suggested and removed the screws holding the bulkhead in place and pulled it out that way.Alternate method would be to cut the tank up.Regards.BruceNeon Moon
