We have just bought a 27X for racing in England. I would like to make contact with U.S. owners to discuss sail wardrobe etc. I have seen a picture of Pepe with a normal looking mainsail (no massive roach as on the U.K. model) Are all the US 27Xs the same? Do you use a smaller headsail for stronger winds?

I have seen the 27x in red at the boat show this fall. I own a regular 27, and can tell you that with the in-mast furling and the small headsail, I regularly get to 5-6K through the water. I have reached a max of 7.9 SOG in an outbound tied and a crossing front line. Reefed almost immediatley upon reaching that speed. Not many of the 27's out there yet, good luck with the info search.
