Hunter 27X Honolulu
Aloha everyone,

I've just bought a new (to me, 2006 model) Hunter 27X. I find very little information online about this particular model. Hoping to connect with a couple or owners or former owners for advice, tips, modifications they've done etc.

I've only had the boat for a short while, it took a while for me to get it her from California (via transport ship).

So far I really love this boat. She is very nimble and responsive to the tiller.

Anyone know where to source a tiller cover for the "S" shaped stainless tiller?
She also came with two mainsheet set up, that has me a little confused. I think one is for finer adjustments than the other. One has more purchase than the other. I'd also like to hear of from anyone who uses a asymetrical spinnaker furler. I'm thing of adding the Selden model. Looks simple, looks like one can fly the Asym. from the cockpit, once set up on the foredeck and sprit. ANd of course, I'd love to hear from anyone who has had issues that I should be aware of

Lastly, just as a matter or curiosity, I wonder how many 27X's have been built. I have the second hull, her name is Salsa. I think she was raced by a factory guy for awhile in FL, made her way to So.Cal where I purchased her.
She now hails from Honolulu.

Thanks,

Bob L.

So you brought Salsa! What a great boat. She was raced in SoCal & I think she became an orphan after the 2008 dive. I doubt there were many built, although I recall there were a few in Europe. Anyhow, take care of her. She's a unique boat with a history. Get a crew together and go chase some boats around the buoys. Good to know she has a proper home in a fab sailing place.

Thanks for the kind words! Yes she has been very competitive in the race world, both in FL and CA. I bought her in Marina Del Ray, she'd been on the market quite a while. Think I got a pretty good deal, which helped defray the cost to ship her here. She has settled in nicely here in Hawaii, and seems to love the trade winds!

Nice site, hope it grows well! I forgot to list the X after the 27, though, and find no way to edit?
