This is at least the third time and place that you have asked the question. It really confuses the issue when you already have the question and an answer elsewhere. There is an answer here in this forum under "Hunter 27". Then I wrote an answer somewhere. You just have to give it time, people are busy.

OK, sorry for the rant. As pointed out the H27 interior is smallish and finding room for a unit can be challenging. It will definitely be $1000. or more. A friend has a nice installation of a $200. window unit on his H28.5. He cut a hole in the bulkhead between the cabin and the starboard locker. So the cold air blows into the cabin while the hot air exhausts in the locker. He props the locker lid open a couple of inches. The condensation drips into the locker and down into the bilge. This only works on shorepower unless you have either a generator or a large battery bank with inverter. Much better than having to install/remove and step over a companionway or hatch mounted unit.

As I answered elsewhere, you can use a standard cardboard box as a template to see where a marine A/C might fit inside the boat.

Several of us have found Mermaid to be an excellent unit. Mine is twelve years old. I did have to buy a new pump when a fitting broke. Mainly due to the way I had it mounted. As mentioned, the size of a cardboard box. The dimensions for a template can be gotten from their website. Just a matter of finding a place where it fits. If you can keep it toward the back you can tap into the engine water for cooling. I just put a T-valve on top of the seacock. The only hole was for discharge out through the bootstripe. I mounted the pump in the bilge close to the seacock. Then you need a source for the 110 AC. I also did not run any duct work. Our boats have limited storage and I did not want to use it up with ducts. My unit blows into the salon. If it is really hot I use a fan to move some air into the v-berth.

Only 12K Robert. But I am in Lake Erie where the water rarely exceeds 70 degrees. When I was at Matthew's Point(close to you) I could have used 16K for sure. Still I would rather move the air with fans then have duct work through the boat. Mine blows into the salon under the nav table. So if I close off the front of the boat the 12K is fine during the day even at 90+.

this is in a Hunter34, but is posted for your perusal.. I used a 12000 BTU unit because it was the largest at the time that would fit in the locker. As ed suggests, I made a box the size of the unit and tried its placement in several areas before deciding on where it is. The 12000 is marginal for my boat (probably fine in yours) in bright sun when the ambient is around 95-100 F but still much better than none ! Night is when it gets used a lot and it will chill the boat as much as you'd want, once the major sun load is off. I have a seawater foot pump for the sink .. I teed into that line for water. I drilled the hole for the water outlet just above the waterline after very careful measurement. I fished wires under the sole using a piece of old lifeline.. I was able to run all wires and water hoses thru existing holes in the grid. Took me about 4 months of weekends to figure exactly how it would all come together..First picture is the space under a settee next to the water heater. Next picture is looking down on the installation before the cover goes on.Water heater had to be moved outboard a litttle and some water hoses had to be extended. Be patient ! and good luck.
