Greetings, Many of you will probably laugh when you read this question, but I'm not proud. My better half and I recently purchased a 1979 Hunter 27. We've combed the boat looking for the water holding tank and can't figure out where it could be? Can anyone provide any info?? Thanks in advance. Lynn

If you're talking about fresh water and not

pottie water tank, it will be on the same side as the deck fill cap and in the area below the vent fitting which will be on the hull exterior up high. Or follow the fill pipe or the sink pipes, or look under/in the salon berths, under a plywood type cover or just wait for someone else, who has actual usefull knowledge, to reply.

Fresh water under the v-berth

Scott is right if you have a holding tank. Our '77 model has a portapotty, installed to pump out on the starboard side, just above the head. I believe that there were (possibly dealer) options for the head. But finding the pump-out and vent lines (both of which will be present for either a holding tank, or porta-potty) and then tracing them back to the tank will give you needed knowledge in any case. Under v-berth in 82

In our 82 H27 both fresh water and holding tanks are under the v-berth. By the way, there are no silly questions on this board except ones not asked! You will find some of the most helpful sailboat owners around on this board.:) chris

On a boat that age,

If you've been unsuccessful tracing the large hose from the toilet to the tank, my guess would be that the ocean is your holding tank.

Folks...they want to know where the WATER tank is

They just made the mistake of calling it a water holding tank...which is exactly what it does: hold water.

On our 1980....

In our '80 Hunter 27, the fresh water tank is under the V-berth, near the bow of the boat. Lift up the V-berth cushions and you should see a wood access panel that you lift up to expose the water tank. Ours has a CPVC cap that is removed to fill the tank. There's also a vent hose coming out the top of the tank. The fresh water pump in ours is mounted on the bulkhead adjacent to the tank.

Fresh Water Tank

My fresh water tank takes up the entire area in the forward section under the v berth. There is a small storage area under the berth nearest the cabin.
