Hunter 260 warenty on open sea

A dealer told me that if there was hull dammage on a Hunter 260 while on the open sea Hunter would not guarantee it. I never heard of this befor. Anyone have any comments on this. Tip

The 260 is classified as a category C vessel (Inshore). This means it's designed for voyages in costal waters, large bays, estuaries, lakes and rivers were conditions up to and including wind force 6 and significant wave heights up to and including 2m may be experienced. The 260 is not structurally built to handle the higher winds and wave forces. If used beyond its classification, Hunter would probably not cover any warranty. Michael

I'm not sure what you mean.

There is no difference between near shore waters and "open sea" except for distance. Well add pollution, but the distance means safe harbor and rescue are closer. IMHO this boat is not very comfortable after 25 knots of wind and waves higher than 3-4 feet of bay chop (worse and shorter periods than the ocean). I would not venture too far. What is too far, I dono? alan
