Hello, I'm researching my first sailboat. Besides being newer, what's the difference between a Hunter 26 & a Hunter 260? Would a H-260 be a good sailboat for a beginner? From what I've read, I guess a water ballast boat will NOT be a great performer for races, but if winning races isn't that important, would I still be fairly satisfied in this boat's performance for atleast a few years while I learn to sail? I did take some sailing lessons on an older J-26. Any other advice is welcome. Thanks, Dan 208-765-0989

You will probably get a lot of responses like start with a dingy or a day sailor or a smaller boat etc. And to some extent I agree, you will learn more on the other boats. The H260 is a very forgiving and easy to handle boat though that I think would work as a pretty good training platform that you wouldn't quickly out grow.

H26 vs H260

I think most if not all your questions will be answered by going to this link: http://kobernus.com/hunter260/index.html. Note the sections where the H26 and H260 are compared
