I've noticed on the lower rudder mount port side moves fore and aft about 1/8" to 3/16" with rudder inputs, particularly if the rudder is set for shallow water. As well, the cable guides (we have the wheel version) under the seat appear to have cracks on their mounts. My question is: Have other 260 owners experienced either of these issues and what was your fix?

Photo's as requested. An additional question Dave; Reference the second photo, should there be nuts and washers on these bolts or is there a backing plate already installed? I've noticed the upper rudder mount has nuts and washers.

There is an aluminum plate encapsulated in the fiberglass that was drilled and taped for the bolts. Simply tighten but if you want to put a backing plate on anyway, do so with a one piece drilled for all three bolts to distribute the load using lock nuts. If you want to ensure that the lock nuts will stay put as well, add lock washers as well after you have tightened those bolts first.

When the rudder is up any, there is more force on those plates. I was very careful in going slow with that rudder up when motoring onto the trailer. I hope this answers your questions. Sorry for the delay but I started on modeling the basement.

In retirement, you are suppose to downsize but I went the opposite direction with the new house due to grandchildren now and we are opening our home to Campus Crusades and others which is a part of our soon to be ministry.

Hi there, I'm a new 260 owner and new to the forum. I've just noticed this problem with mine as well and was wondering how your repair went and if any further advice can be offered.

Hi, sorry it took so long to reply. I haven't been on this post for awhile. I made a backing plate as CDC suggested and secured it all with nuts and washers. As for the cracks on the pulley guides under the seat, They have not gotten worse so i haven't pursued a fix for that yet.
