Hunter 270 Ottawa
I had a 170% Genoa on my 2002 Hunter 270 (treat as a 260 model). I have just replaced it with a new 110% Genoa. With the standard Genoa blocks, the Genoa sheets pulls straight down on the leech of the sail, not on a 45 degree angle. A friend recommended I install small Genoa tracks to correct this situation. If I install the tracks should I move them towards the midline of the boat or should I stay on the same line as the standard Genoa block ???

deck block looks right

If you look at the drawing of the H260 and you draw a line from the deck block through the jib clew it lands about halfway between the head and tack as it should. That is with the stock 110%.

The blocks for the genoa 170 were added on privately and not by the manufacturer. I found that a 170 was overkill for the 270. You are correct that it is based on a 260 but with a keel vs. water ballast. There were a few minor differences but it is built off a 260 chassis as I would say. I introduced that boat for Hunter along with the 260.
