I suggest that you keep about 6’ of the broken mast for possible future mast mending. I was able to use a piece as a sleeve to repair a “wallowed out” mast raising pole hole at the base of the mast. You may want to salvage the mast hardware and halyard exit plates. BrianW

The best advice for you right now is to have quotes for all parts ready when the appraiser comes because they do not know where to go and most are inexperienced. Contact help@sailboatowners.com asking for Al to get you a quote for mast , mast step, standing rigging, struts with deck fittings now, not later. I was an adjuster and later an investigator and this is damn good advice. Email now.
Rigging was made by Seco South in Tampa Florida and ask for Jean
The question will be labor and doubt you have anyone who knows what to do. If that is the case ask the adjuster instead of paying labor which would be the same would they cover air fare, rental car, meals a two night at a motel for me. You heard me correctly. Now quit screwing around and get those quotes. It will hasten the time getting boat fixed as it takes time to get a mast unless you hAve a reputable marine sailboat or mast dealer nearby

If that mast step is bent then I'd replace it. It's cast aluminum, its probably cracked and is surely weakened. Just going on my on experience. If you cant find the vendor for it, let me know and I'll see if I can dig up my records as to where I got mine. I replaced mine last October. I'm thinking it was about 75.00.

If insurance will cover this why on earth would you try to reuse or salvage damaged parts? Even if you have to pay every dime out of pocket why would you risk future failure? Would you buy a damaged part? I think not!!!
