Hunter 260 and Use of a Jack Plate to Support the Motor

I purchased a new Yamaha 9.9 XPB to replace my old Yamaha. New engine has the gear controls connecting to a lever on the outside of the housing. The associated new cable connection device interferes with the boat as I tilt the motor forward. As a remedy to fix this, I am looking to install a Jack Plate to lift the motor several inches vertically before tilting. Has any of you had experience with a Jack Plate on your Hunter 260? Do any of you know if the Hunter motor mount on the port side of the motor extends to the bottom of the boat? Currently there are two threaded bolt holes on this port side toward the top of the mount support. See attached picture. Can I install additional anchor points (threaded bolt holes) below these existing bolt holes to add support for the Jack Plate? Thanks in advance for any help it is really appreciated!

Could you add some square tubing and push the motor back to get the clearance?

Or add a spacer to the back of the mount and get it further back a half or three quarters of an inch perhaps?

Adding additional bolts is likely unnecessary. I would however add backing plates on the inside of the hull.
