The small traveler made it difficult to center the boom when racing ..... even tightening the mainsheet excessively did not center the boom. I added the red & green lines and blocks(4X), attached to the strong stanchion bases, to center the boom .... this leaves the mainsheet free for optimal trimming of mainsail shape.

In the background you can see the "tenting" of the sliding hatch cover to minimize the chances of rain getting into the cabin. We added 2 "D" rings to the top of the hatch cover and use a bungee to pull the hatch cover up. The sliding hatch cover was made by the Sew Shop in north central Florida.

Easy way to deflect water with a compainionway top cover is simply put a throwable cushion underneath it. Worked well.

Stanchion bases

I like your companionway cover; good job, the tenting effect shoulk keep things aereated and dry below..

The stanchion "legs" of the port stancn my boat had been loosened, presumably by previous pulling of the stanchion to get on to the boat. The aluminum inlaid screw bases were shot from oversize replacement screws that had been getting loose (the PO had put wood screws all the way through perforating the liner!). The repair was sort of elaborate. I'd keep an eye on those stanchion legs to make sure they remain firm over time.

I'm curious on your mainsheet reefing system. Did you bring reefing lines to cockpit? Seems you added blocks at the tabernacle for that? Comments welcome.

Cheers,
Albert s/v Stella Maris (H 260 wing keel)
