From the Hunter 26 owner's manual attached the original wiring was routed in a harness above the head liner. If that is not possible, suggest routing it in the port or starboard wall.

I have a tohatsu 6 with an alternator wire. I put a small hole in the starboard side of the engine well and fitted a rubber grommet in the hole to keep water out. The wire once inside the boat was routed to the battery behind the aft bulkhead and was zip tied to other wires already routed in that same area.
Purchase a two prong trolling motor plug with cover. Easy to install and easy to connect/disconnect. Send a private message to include name , phone number and location ias I have installed many on the hunter water ballast boats over the years.
