My wife and I are looking for a Hunter 26.5 or a Catalina 25. We require a wing keel and roller furling. Preferrably an inboard diesel, omc saildrive, however, will consider all. I used to have a Hunter 26.5. It had a wing keel, roller furler, tiller and an outboard. I don't believe a diesel or saildrive were available as options. My boat stayed in the water year round so I never trailered it, but one of the things I'd heard was the 26.5 may require an oversized permit on some roads due to it's beam. You might want to check to see if that's necessary where you plan on taking it. We loved this boat and it's the reason we moved up to our current OC350. I would heartily recommend this boat as a great day sailer, weekend cruiser. If we ever downsize I'd defenitely look for another 26.5 One more note, I'd suggest looking for either of your two choices on the HOW or COW(?) websites. I sold my 26.5 in the middle of winter through this site. While the other internet options provide a great place to look, when you finally get ready to buy I believe you'll have much better luck here. Good luck and keep us informed. Glenn G

Thanks Glen for the advice.. didn't know about the oversize on the 26.5, however, that is really something to think about. I believe oversize is 102 inches and that would put the 26.6 at 108. You're right. I wasn't sure if the 26.6 had an inboard option or not, ob is ok though if it has enough power. Roller furling is a must for us. I will keep looking though. Take care.
