I have a Hunter 26.5 and the front berth seems to be getting wet somehow. The only thing I can think of is the front hatch isn't sealing properly. I have looked at replacing it but it looks like its molded into the top deck. Is there any way to replace it or seal it off better? I am attaching some photos to show what I'm dealing with.

second that and not sure about the below deck framing as that is odd which looks like a previous owner installed something.

Generally there was a gasket material glued on and when the lid came down, it would compress but sometimes you may also have to reseal the locking mechanism, riser arms and hinges that hold the cover in place. If original gasket then replace it. clean off the meldew

Yeah there is no gasket what so ever under the hatch. I figured there had to be something. So am I hearing correctly too that the below deck wood framing is not original to the boat as well? If so I'm going to remove because I keep hitting my damn head on it when I go in there. I will give Dave G. a call this afternoon sometime after 1:30 central time. Thanks for the input. One other question not relating to the hatch though. I need to install a new depth finder since I found out the one we currently have doesn't work (found out by running aground) luckily it was only a sand bar and we pushed off without a problem. If I'm going to have to install a new depth finder anyway I had considered installing a dual depth finder / chart plotter to better help me stay in the channel. This is a fresh water boat that is used on the Tennessee River and the summer and winter pools vary greatly. Does anyone have any advice on a good all in one unit?

Might want to start a new thread with the electronics question - it will get more attention that way. Before you decide the unit doesnt work, you might want to do some troubleshooting. Post the symptoms you are seeing (in the new thread) and you will no doubt get some great suggestions.

suggest putting transducer in a flat space on the bottom of the hull where you have sanded off the gel coat to fiberglass and emersing into plumbers putty. Send me a private message and I will tell you how. It is simple. Use to be a dealer. What part of the TN river as I use to deliver boats there when at Smith Mt. Lake and later in North Carolina.
