Hunter 26 & 270 Cockpit Table

I am a new owner of a Hunter 270. I understand that the Hunter 26 models had a cockpit table that used an interior hatch as the table top. I have an oval hatch cover with a center hole located under the V Berth & I am wondering if this is the table top. There are no metal pieces on the boat to support the table.
