Hunter 25 vs. Tartan 27

I'm looking at a Hunter 25 (1978) and Tartan 27 (1963) to purchase. I want to cruise for fun and casual race with the family. Can anybody contrast the two boats. Thanks, Joe

Casual Comparison

Owned a Hunter 25 in the same style as what you're looking for. Also have friend that has Tartan 27. The Hunter is bigger in every area except cockpit and lazarettes. It's also lighter is is good or bad depending entirely on your needs. The Tartan also has a lot more brightwork. If you like that, cool, if not, get the Hunter. Overall? The Tartan sails better, the Hunter is more comfortable below. The Tartan is more maintenance than the Hunter. You pick which is more important.

lazzarettes?

Jay, Thanks for the feedback. What are lazarettes? I found in webster: a space in a ship between decks used as a stateroom. Please clarify; thank you.

lazarettes are storage areas...

With flip open tops usually built into cockpit bench seats.
