I am a new owner of a 1978 Hunter 25. This is my first sailboat and am sure I will have many questions, but I'll begin with one about the hole in the bow. The boat is currently on stands in my driveway and when I stand in front of the bow there is a hole roughly a 1/2" across and a few feet below the stem. It is definitely meant to be there, but I'm not sure if it is meant to have something in it. I have not been topside yet to see if it is through to the chain/anchor locker though so is this a drain? Any information will be appreciated.

it's a drain

Like many Hunter models, there is an anchor locker drain located in the bow. This drain becomes easily plugged up with debris from the anchor and the rode - algae, mud, etc. You might want to check it out and make sure it can drain properly. It can really get messy inside that anchor locker! Don Hunter 26 S.V. Anodyne, Redding, CA
