Hatch replacements
Check the HOW archives for the people who have replaced it with Bomar or Gray items. The easiest thing is to fit a square hatch over the trapezoidal hole.I am replacing a badly-made wooden one from the PO of my 25 with a new one in mahogany (I am changing over all the teak) about 2-1/4" high with 1/2" white Lexan on top. I can post pictures of this when it is done.I will put in a plug here to say I am interested in providing replacement hatches for this boat via the new Cherubini shop. I will be looking for anyone (who covers their boat!) who over the off-season would care to either LEND me a decent H-25 hatch from which I will make a mould and new fiberglass parts or else GIVE me a fixable one which I will replace with new. There is NO doubt a new fibreglass one will be vastly cheaper than the $424 Bomar one that isn't quite right (I'm guessing, but in the vicinty of $100?). I will also consider making teak or mahogany versions like mine if desired (more money). If Phil does not mind, people who are interested can EMail me. I will be offering the HOW chandlery some other stuff for the 25, like my fiddle ring for the halyard blocks and the traveller bridge and even reproductions, suitable for framing, of design drawings (ALL of which I just recently found!) as it becomes available.J Cherubini IIJComet@aol.com
