Hunter 25.5 Lake Travis
I'm the proud new owner of a Hunter 25.5 built in 1985. The boat spent about a week under water laying on its side (I was given the boat for free because of this). So far I've had some people that know more about boats look it over and its shaping up to be in pretty good condition, just really dirty. It hasn't sailed yet, rudder and sail are being repaired.

We've noticed that it slightly tilts to the starboard side when sitting in the slip, it doesn't take much weight to correct the tilt, but it's definitely noticeable. We haven't been able to find any weight or any reason why it has the slight tilt. The only guess we have is the rudder is slightly bent to one side, which we can't confirm right now since it's under water. Has anyone out there had similar experiences with this model or have any other ideas to the cause of the tilt?

Perhaps your fresh water holding tank is filled with water. Recently I did an overhaul of the holding tank, the lines and the pump. Boat tilts to the starboard side when I fill the tank with fresh water. I also found that the tank is not a solid sealed unit. When freshening up the water with the hose, I ran the water for 5 minutes. I ended up with water in the bilge. It must have pushed excess water through the top lip seal. As I am not doing any long distance trips and for the moment only day trips, I have emptied the holding tank. Hope this is your issue and it gives you an answer.

Twodzus, My first guess was the freshwater tank as well, but where I believe the freshwater tank should be located, no tank. Crazy Dave, when you refer to motor were you thinking outboard? The motor is an inboard diesel in the center of the boat (which still runs after spending a week under lake water!). I'm hoping with a full diesel tank (port), battery (port), freshwater tank filled (starboard) it levels out, but right now the diesel and fresh water tanks are empty the battery is on the port side and it still tilts starboard.

on the 26.5 the battery, motor and cooler cabinet are all on the starboard side. This creates a list. The water tank is centered in the bow....

A good theory I got through a PM was sand and silt settling between the liner and the hull while it was laying on the starboard side underwater.

I just had something called a super rum punch. Four shots of rum and...whatever, i think i'm leaning a bit to starboard myself.

I did not know the motor was an inboard diesel which I assumed gas engine.

Sometimes gear on one side will cause that. In other cases, it could be tankage and when filled would tend to level out.

I have seen where the keel bolts when drilled could be off center just a little or too much fiberglass added on one side during layup at manufacturing.

Once there was a 31 foot other brand from the factory leaning over and it took some added lead weight to balance the boat out.

Never really affected the sailing charachterists though.
