Hey, next time I will try and ask numerious question in one post. Will the older Hunter 25.5 sleep Six, Four kids, and 2 adults? If using a trailer, what system does it have for setting up the mast? How long does it take to set mast and rigging after you drop the boat in the water from the trailer? How long does it then take once out of water to secure mast and rigging so you can drive home and park the boat till the next sailing day? Thank You, so many boats so many options. Adam

Just remember that staying on a boat is a little like camping. But, two adults and four kids is no problem...just hope everyone likes each other. As for the mast, my 25.5 is a fin keel version, and my boat stays in the water all year long. I have lowered and raised my mast at the slip for maintenance, but not something you do all the time. Our 25.5...
is a shoal keel model. We keep her in a slip but know someone who keeps their 25.5sk on a trailer. They keep their mast up and store the boat at a marina. The 25.5 is a little bit on the large side to just store in your driveway and at 4500 disp and a beam over 9', it might also present some challenges routinely pulling it around. I prefer keeping her in a slip. I'd rather be sailing that extra hour or two or more than rigging. And usually your marina neighbors can make the social experience that much better. But she definitely WILL sleep 4 kids and 2 adults: 1 adult + 1 kid in the v-berth, 2 small kids or one larger kid on the dinette conversion, 1 kid on the starboard settee, 1 adult + 1 kid in the quarterberth. Some people like to throw a tarp over the boom and sleep in the cockpit. That would take care of a guest kid for sleeping. There's plenty of room to sleep. The cockpit is big enough to hold everybody as long as the smallest ones are in the back behind the forward travel of the tiller (BIG cockpit). Boat has a big beam and deck. Nice area on the cabin top aft of the mast and also besides the mast. Another nice feature is the pop-top. Great open when at the dock or anchored for ventilation and headroom. Put it down for sailing and the visibility is good from a sitting position in the cockpit. But don't sail with the pop top up, it will interfere with the boom vang. Its a great boat if a little on the tender side. Faster than most would think and is very well balanced and behaved. Plenty of owner reviews on this site.

Keep it in the water if you can
Mine's the fin keel, but even with the shoal draft, I would keep it in the water at a marina, even if its on a mooring. With 4 kids, you probably don't want to spend the time to launch & recover, you just want to sail! My wife & I sleep in the aft berth, our daughter in the v-berth. I would say if you can, to put both adults in the aft berth, then two kids in the v-berth, one on the dinette conversion (which I never tried), and one on the starboard settee. We both tried the v-berth once, but were too cramped up there. But maybe one not too tall adult could work with a child.

...comfortably, Mom and Dad preferred. Otherwise, I'd stick some kids out on the cockpit benches and give them some mosquito repellent. Tell them it's just like camping.

This is a sailboat, not the Venecian in Las Vegas!! There's plenty of room for 2 + 4. More room in a H25.5 than would seem for its size. Slip-mate has a Catalina 25 and 4 kids. They camp in their boat from time to time. He thinks our 25.5 is bigger. Had to ask a few times what was the size. When comparing both boats, the 25.5 seems much bigger. If he can sleep 6, we could do it more comfortably.
