Working on placing a new tricolor/anchor light on top of my mast. I took a part the old two switch anchor light and the wires coming up the mast are red and white. The old light has three wires coming out of it, and two of the wires are connected together. My new LCD light has three wires coming out. Is there anyway I can hook this light up?

I have checked into it a little more. I took apart the connectors and two wires are running from the light to connector. Three wires from connector to switch. Some one must have rewired it. I am going to run three wires from the connector to the new light. First question is the Yellow wire the ground? Second question is the switch is a two prong switch that lights one side of the old light and if you switch it to the other side it lights both. I see a wire connecting both sides. If I clip it, can I work each new light independent? thanks for any help. I can get some pictures tomorrow if needed. d

Sir, you have a light with two light bullbs with a seperator plate in between the two bulbs with three wires coming out. That style light was used primarily on many smaller Hunter trailerables. Two wires are hot or positive and one for ground or negative on a DC system or battery sysem only. The front light only is to satisfy a white illuniated steaming light at night while under power. I always had mine on when sailing too. With the two lights illuminated is for the required anchoring light. If you are on a lake, that anchoring light well was a joke as most bass fishermen look straight and not up which is why I told my customers to get a led rechargable light to hang from the boom while anchored at night for any lake boat out there.

First a dumb question. Is the deck light connector has two, three or four holes which can also be determined by the male counterpart plug in??? The nest quesion is the wiring to the deck light connector from the panel two or three wire???? You have already told me the wiring in the mast was two wire.

Send me an email with that information and then I can tell you what to do. rmail to davecondon@mindspring.com and then I will inform you what to do. Heck include your phone number as I hate to type. I will advise the forum what I willl tell you. I introduced this boat for Hunter.

You are welcome. the boat has a three wire lead to the deck plug; however, the mast wire was only two wire. Hunter installed a three prong deck light connector. I suggested in an private email to change the mast wiring to the proper three wire either #14 or 16 guague and that should solve the issue. I also advised the three way swithch at the panel was an on-off-on switch with one for steaming and the other for anchor .

Keep us all posted what you do but again I would put in a marine grade three wire if you want both lights to work.
