Bought this 240 last December. The boat was stored outside uncovered on the trailer and untouched for about 3yrs. It cleaned up well with a power washer and revealed decent gel coat for a 1998. After cleaning it needed only regular maintenance which included for the trailer: new tires, bearings, runners/carpet and winch strap, and for the boat: a couple of jaw toggles, a cheek block, motor upgrade to 8hp four stroke and running rigging. All good, until I removed the swing keel to replace line #1. Someone had cross threaded the 3/4" bolt into what appeared to be a new 304 stainless keel bracket, then unable to fasten securely they installed a smaller regular steel bolt and nut through the whole thing which left them no way to tighten the assembly. Luckily no big deal to chase the threads in the stainless nut and replace the correct bolt. THANKS to Crazy Dave and this group I learned about the 3/4"/36" guide, so keel alignment/installation was a breeze! However, the lifting design left me wondering with a 122lb keel how in the world can you retract it and sure enough you can't, out of the water that is! It was however, easy enough to lift it by hand, secure with the winch/line stopper and set down on trailer.
We got it down to Corpus Christi Bay for a 5-day test cruise (10-20mph winds) and have nothing but good things to say about the 240. The mast stepping system works well/fast, the boat has a huge cabin and cockpit, with the 8hp 4-stroke at just above idle it makes good speed and the KEEL comes right up as long as you're moving forward (the FASTER you go the EASIER it lifts). CD feel better soon! See picture, delrin sheave installed upper hole to eliminate the binding... Thanks Again to everyone
