Hunter 240 Rudder Pull up line

Today when I got my boat back in storage, I noticed that the rudder pull up line pulled straight thru the fiberglass. Luckily I had the rudder strapped up. Is there an easy fix for this, the ship quoted $500. Can I drill a new hole and just epoxy this how? If so is there any special steps I need to take?

Sure, you can just drill another hole close to it and fill the old hole. If it happens again, however, I'd strengthen the edge with some glass and epoxy.

This is very fixable at home. I don't recommend getting it wet as is--those exposed fibers will wick water into the rudder. You will want to sand the bottom paint off that area to get a good epoxy bond.

If it was mine I would be in favor DIY a new hole with an eyelet in it and repair the old with epoxy then take a friend to a nice dinner when done and brag about the repair.
