macgregor 26m trailerable boat not moored
Looking at a 2004 Hunter 240 and am wondering if there is room to install a mainsheet traveler. Is there a kit available from Hunter or elsewhere to accomplish this?

Thanks for a response.

Not having a traveler puts a serious dent in your sail control. Make sure the vang has plenty of power to help make up for the loss of traveler. I would install a Garhauer traveler at the front of the cockpit across the companion way opening. Never understood how Hunter thought they could get away without a traveler and still maintain sail shape, go figure.

The Hunter H240 / H260 lack a couple of the sail shaping controls found on other boats. I missed them at first. I don't any more. I've learned to relax and not tweak the sail trim for every variance of conditions. These boats weren't designed with that kind of performance in mind. Think cheap, easy to trailer, family friendly and you'll know the designers reached their goals.

To answer your question more directly, no there is not enough room on the H240 to add a traditional traveler. See this post for my solution:
