Hunter 240 Centerboard Repair - Rest on Trailer without Centerboard?

I recently purchased a Hunter 240 and need to drop the centerboard to repair a crack. The boat yard has a lift where I can lift her up and drop the centerboard then she will have to go back on my trailer while I repair the crack.

I read a post from Crazy Dave that you have to be careful with boat stands so I am wanting to know if it is okay to set the Hunter 240 back onto the trailer without the centerboard supporting some of the weight?

I could put some wood blocks under the area of the centerboard if needed.

Thank you for any advise.

You actually don’t want much weight at all on the centerboard. Put the boat back on the trailer and fix your centerboard. It adds little or no ballast and is not strong enough to support the boat. Are you taking it to the Boat Exchange?

Thanks for the reply. Yes I will be taking it to the Boat Exchange. I plan to replace the centerboard lines if I can figure them out. I recently sold my Baba 30 Arete'. Rick hauled her up from Little Gasparilla FL (2002) when I bought her and to Mobile last month. Rick does great work but I am looking forward to having a boat I can haul myself wherever I wish to sail. I crewed on a delivery of a Hunter Legend 38 from St Augustine FL to USVI 5 years ago and I told my wife who found the Hunter 240 that she look like a smaller version of the legend. I think we will enjoy the walkthru transom.

@Captain Beyond

Send me a private message with phone number. Look st Hunter 260 which has specs on that bracket and when it comes out make sure you have a permanent magic marker to mark the two pin holes. We need to talk

Cool beans! Do you think you have a handle on putting it back?

I have the messenger line in place and the 7/16" line on order. Once I finish the repair I will let you know when I plan to re-install the centerboard.
