Yes and no.

Don, We love our '87 h23, but I wouldn't recommend it if you plan to trailer it, launch and retrieve it every time you sail. Too much trouble and difficulty, in my humble opinion. I'm a 3-year newbie and don't know anything about any other boats, but I'm sure there's something a lot easier out there. Hope this helps. Mac

We too have a h23 and really enjoy it for the sailing we do. We mostly daysail with a few weekends and usually one 10 day or so cruise. It handles well for what we do and works well for two people. We have made some upgrades to make it a little better for us. I second the comments about not wanting to set it up and take it down. Did this one season and thats enough for many more years. It really is a marina animal

I gave up on trailering even before I got it to the water after attempting mast atepping and whatnot in the driveway a few times. That doesn't include getting it on and off the trailer, my first attempt at a haulout required four separate tries, the strap on the winch kept breaking, yadda yadda short story is it really is something you should stick to doing once a year and that leaves more time for sailing. On the boat side as youve probably seen by now the 23 is just a great starter boat, has reasonable amenities for the size and only needs a breath of wind to get it moving. On gusty days its kinda tender but you'll be a good hand at reefing before you know it. Join the 23 club.
