Mine have these extensions that come up from both sides and sort of point to the center of the boat. Stick up about three inches. Not sure if this is standard but I have my backstay connected to these with a sliding tensioner. Works well. When I pulled them out, they just slid out and are about 5" long.
Carboman, I doubt that is standard. My backstay attaches to steel straps attached at the top of the transom, which looks like it is probably the standard from Hunter. Of course, these are not adjustable unless you count use of the turnbuckles.
Previous owner made some interesting mods. I'll take a few pics and maybe some time you can send me a few of how yours is setup. I'd like to change it because sitting in the aft port and starboard corners while steering can be uncomfortable do to the backstay system in your back. Thinking of rigging a backrest.
