To each his own. IF the capeting on the keel tray is in good order, it does work. As for the drop down, you make sense but I would hesitate on some of the ramps least they are called ramps for one reason or another. This is the last on this thread.

Great ideas! I also don't want to "bump" my H23....tried it and it just does not work. Thanks to all H23 owners who have this concern and gave advice.

If any keel is resting solely on a metal tray (keel support tray), it willl allow the boat to move on its keel. I suggest that the metal tray be covered with something to include wood, carpet or so forth. Experience just talking.

Good information, Crazy Dave. If the keel easily slips onto a steel support tray, it will quite as easily slip off during transportation. Luckily I only have to tow my H23 twice a year. I feel sorry for those who bought what Hunter advertised as a "trailerable sailboat" thinking that It was simple to trailer and launch. My old Javelin comes to mind. The H23 stores nicely in the water at the slip and continues as a blast to sail.
